What is different about us
Calm, not loud
No ball-pit racket, no music playing, no flashing machines. In the salt room children dig, build and pour. If your child is quickly overwhelmed, this is a good place to arrive.
Fixed times, not crowds
Every session lasts 45 minutes and is booked in advance. That way the room is never overcrowded, and you know what to expect before you set off.
Café without an entrance fee
Before a session, afterwards, or without the salt room altogether. You can drop into the parent-and-child café at any time and pay only for what you eat and drink.

Important: an adult always goes into the salt room as well. Supervision stays with you, our team does not take over childcare. If you are looking to hand over an hour, this is not the place.

Quickest through our online calendar. A phone call or a WhatsApp message works just as well. For the café you do not need to book anything.

Arrive and change
Outdoor shoes stay outside, white socks go on. Bare feet are not allowed. You can also buy socks here.

45 minutes of play
Digging, building castles, sliding, exploring. You are in the room together, as a family.

Into the café
Coffee, waffles, pretzels, cake and snacks for the children, plus a play area. How long you stay is up to you.
All year round, not just in winter
When outdoors is not an option
Endless rain in November, a school holiday with nothing planned, 35 degrees on the playground in summer: there are plenty of days when indoors is the better idea. We are here for those days all year round.
The café stays pleasantly cool, it is air conditioned. On hot days we cool the salt room down with a mobile unit.
Good to know: we are closed on Monday and Tuesday. Wednesday to Friday we are open from 10:00 to 13:00 and from 14:00 to 18:00, Saturday and Sunday straight through from 10:00 to 17:00.

Café
No entrance fee and no booking needed. You pay only for what you eat and drink.
Salt room, children
Free up to age 2, 5.00 euros from 2 to 6, 6.00 euros from 7 to 12, per session.
Salt room, adults
14.50 euros per session. An adult has to come into the room in any case.

What parents often ask us
Is Happy Kids an indoor playground?
If you mean a place where children can play indoors: yes. If you are looking for a large hall with climbing frames, trampolines and a ball pit: no. Here children play in a room full of fine natural salt, and afterwards you go into the café.
From what age are children allowed in the salt room?
There is no minimum age, babies are welcome too. Children may only enter the salt room accompanied by an adult.
Do I have to book in advance?
For the salt room yes, places per session are limited. The quickest way is the booking calendar. You can drop into the café at any time.
What do I need to bring?
White socks for everyone going into the salt room. Bare feet are not allowed, and you can buy socks here as well. Comfortable play clothes are practical, salt brushes out easily afterwards.
How long can I stay?
A session in the salt room lasts 45 minutes. There is no time limit in the café, so you can stay before and afterwards for as long as you like.
Where are you and where can I park?
At Heidelberger Landstraße 186B in Darmstadt-Eberstadt. The Darmstadt-Eberstadt Wartehalle tram stop is right outside the door. You will usually find a free space in the surrounding side streets, and there is also a public car park directly beneath us, which charges a fee. More on the contact and directions page.
