45 minutes of sea air
The salt playground in Darmstadt
A whole room full of fine natural salt. The children dig, build and slide while salty air fills the room. You are there with them, as a family. You will find us in the middle of Darmstadt-Eberstadt, on Heidelberger Landstraße, a calm indoor playground for days when outdoors is not an option.
- 45 minutes per session
- White socks required
- Every age welcome
Briefly explained
What is a salt playground?
Picture a large sandpit, only filled with fine white natural salt instead of sand. That is our salt room. The floor is covered with a thick layer of salt, and there are spades, moulds, buckets and toy vehicles, plus a play house and a slide.
While the children play, salty air is released into the room. The atmosphere is reminiscent of a walk by the sea, and many families find the air pleasantly fresh.
Best of all, it works in any weather. Rain, heat or grey skies are no longer an argument against an outing.

What to bring
White socks, for everyone
Everyone entering the salt room needs white socks. Bare feet are not permitted and neither are outdoor shoes. If you have not brought any, you can get them from us.
Comfortable play clothes
Something you do not mind getting salty. Salt brushes off easily and comes out in the wash.
An adult companion
Children may only enter the salt room accompanied by an adult. Supervision remains with you at all times.
A little time
The session lasts 45 minutes. Add a few minutes for changing and feel free to plan in some café time too.
Please postpone if there is a fever
A runny nose and a light cough are fine. With a fever, open wounds or an infectious illness we ask you to move your appointment. That protects all the other families.
From babies to grandparents
Who is the salt room for?
There is no age limit in either direction. Babies lie comfortably on a blanket, toddlers dig, school children build entire cities, and adults sit alongside and simply breathe.
- Families with children of any age
- Grandparents looking for something to do with the grandchildren
- Playgroups, childminders and nursery outings
- Anyone looking for a break from everyday life

Frequently asked
Questions about the salt playground
What exactly is a salt playground?
A room whose floor is covered with a thick layer of fine natural salt. Children play in it as they would in sand, while salty air is released into the room. A session with us lasts 45 minutes.
Why do I need white socks?
White socks keep the salt clean and protect your feet. Bare feet are not permitted in the salt room, and neither are outdoor shoes. If you have not brought any, you can buy white socks from us on site.
Is this a medical offering?
No. The salt playground is a wellness and family experience. We do not make diagnoses, we do not treat and we make no health claims. A visit does not replace medical advice.
How many families are in the room at once?
Places per session are limited so that there is enough room to play. That is why it is worth reserving in advance, either online in the booking calendar or by phone on +49 151 29002970.
Is the salt room air conditioned?
Not with a fixed installation. On hot days we cool the salt room with a mobile air conditioning unit so that the visit stays comfortable. If that is not enough on a given day, we cancel the booked slots in good time and take those times out of the booking calendar. Nobody should have to sit and sweat in the salt. Our café next door is air conditioned throughout.
What does a visit cost?
Adults pay €14.50 per session, children between €5.00 and €7.00 depending on age. Children up to 2 years are free. The full price list is on the prices page.
